o2 Learn is a brand new website which aims to give every 13-18 year old in the UK lessons from the best teachers in the country.
Teachers can film short videos of themselves delivering mini-lessons, and then upload them to the site. Pupils can also request topics that they are having difficulty with in the hope that it prompts a teacher to produce a video for that topic.
Twice a month, the highest rated, most watched videos, win. The teacher gets £2000, and their school gets £2000. There’ll also be grand final prizes too. That’s quite an incentive for teachers to produce some quality materials and share them with the world!
I’m definitely inspired to try and make a few Science videos – I’ve always wanted to try one in a la Commoncraft…..
O2 Learn has literally just launched, so content may be thin for a while as it starts to build up a library of videos, but it’s definitely worth bookmarking and checking as another source of video content. Especially if your school still blocks YouTube.
Go check it out today! http://www.o2learn.co.uk
