Free online graph paper generator

Posted on Feb 23, 2011 in Interactive Whiteboards, Useful Links | 3 comments

A quick post to promote a handy website which provides free online graph paper of all different types. As well as being the obvious use of printing these pages out, this would also be useful for creating backgrounds for interactive whiteboard pages.

Most IWB software comes with graph paper, but possibly not as many types as you would need (or want). Using this site, generate graph paper and then use the screen capture tool to grab an image of the paper and put it onto your IWB flipchart page. Lock it in place so that it doesn’t move by accident.

Both Smart Notebook and Promethean software will let you add pages to your gallery – so you can put these pages there for when you need them in the future.

Access free online graph paper here.

Thanks to Rebecca Watson for the link via Twitter.

  1. Here is another free resource for graph paper that I have used with my classes:

  2. The above link is great if you don’t want it to be accurate. it is fantastic for graphs etc for regular class use, but if you want an exact scale… i have found it to be out by 10% (ie: there are actually 11 squares in 10 mm of actual line length… ruined my ma making class!)

  3. thanks Mark – I was mainly highlighting on these sites as a resource for generating background to use on screen on a whiteboard – where accuracy might not always be needed in terms of actual measurements.

I guess there are issues with printers etc. For real accuracy I am afraid you’d have to buy proper paper.

Unless anyone knows of a better alternative – please share here if you know one.
