There are several different ways to get the special characters in French, Spanish etc and I often get asked by MFL teachers about the best ways to do it.
Here’s another method that might be easier, especially if you’re at an IWB and can’t do the CTRL + numberpad trick.
Type.it gives you a text editor with buttons that give you the special characters. You can type in your words using your normal (or on-screen) keyboard, then click the buttons to add the special accented characters.
Once done, copy and paste the text into your regular whiteboard software, PowerPoint or Word.
It’s pretty straightforward and covers the major European languages, plus Maori.
