Timerr and E.gg Timer – simple online classroom timers

My favourite online timer continues to be the excellent music-playing one over at classtools.net, but here are a couple more that you might like as alternatives.

Timerr is a simple timer that resembles the kitchen timers that many of us will have stuck on our fridges. Simply drag the green blob around to set the time, then click start. There’s also one that looks like an egg timer.

Visit http://timerrr.com/ to take a look.

As an alternative, check out E.gg Timer . This is a very simple timer which can be set to whatever time you want simply by adding the time to the URL: http://e.ggtimer.com/

So if you want a 30 second timer, go to http://e.ggtimer.com/30, If you want a 2 minute timer go to http://e.ggtimer.com/2minutes, Or for a 1 hour timer go to http://e.ggtimer.com/1hour.

This means you can set up the timer in a hyperlink in your IWB software – and activate with a click!

Although both Smart and Promethean include timers in their IWB software – I quite like some of these online timers for a bit of variety. Next time you need to give your class a timed activity – check out one of these timers to keep track.

Got another favourite? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Try the pomodoro timer!
The Pomodor method is to set yourself a task for 25 minutes, then take a 5 minute break; repeat 3 times then take a half hour break.
A timer, which ticks of 25 minutes and then automatically ticks of 5 minutes (in very pretty colours) is at http://www.focusboosterapp.com/live
