Edcanvas – an online lesson designer

Posted on Jan 4, 2013 in Digital Media, Interactive Whiteboards, Web Tools | 1 comment

Edcanvas is a nifty website that lets teachers collate online resources into a single page for their students to access. The lesson (or canvas) can be shared with students via a URL link or embedded into a blog/Learning platform. For example here’s a canvas on Photosynthesis:

Creating a canvas is quite simple. Down one side of the page is a search column that lets you search YouTube and Flickr as well as add resources from Google Drive and Dropbox and upload directly. Selected resources can then be dragged onto the lesson space.
It’s a very useful way of giving pupils access to several different resources in one step rather than having to share lots of different URL’s.

You could also take this further by asking students to collate their own canvases as they do research on a given topic

  1. Great post Danny thanks. I could see this working really well for project based lessons, or as a way of showing differentiated pathways for different leveled students.
    Thanks again.
