Bring a Hippo into the Classroom with ZooKazam

ZooKazam is a fun augmented reality app for IOS that allows you to bring wild animals into the classroom without all the mess and inevitable legal action…

Simply print off the targets, and when viewed through the app, the animal will magically appear. You could get a whale on your desk, or a hippo in your school hall!

The app will let the children take both photographs and video of the animal, plus they can add weather and lighting effects to add to the realism.

There are 40 animals available including Hippos, deer and whales, plus insects, fish and reptiles. There are even 10 different dinosaurs you can use!

If you are teaching about animals with your class then this is an app well worth getting. Children could create images of different habitats, and then use the target to bring the correct animal into the scene. They could create images of different animals and then label them to show their main features – use them for classification

It could even be used as a prompt for creative writing. Just what would happen if someone brought a hippopotamus into school? Or a velociraptor came to tea?

You can get more information about ZooKazam here. You can also download the Zoo Kazam app here. The app is free, with limited animals (mammals), and the full version is 79p/99c.

Hat tip to Tim Rylands for sharing the app here.
