One of the Year 3 units of the NCCE Teach Computing Scheme requires children to be able to construct a branching database. This is something that is not something that regular Office software can do (although you can sort of do a version of it using hyperlinks within PowerPoint and Google Slides), and you’ll need some additional software to do it.
The NCCE scheme suggests J2E branch, and there’s a free version online. You can also do it really well in Purple Mash 2Question, if you’re a subscriber.
As well as doing this within the computing curriculum, branching databases can also be used within maths and science lessons. I use them when teaching about classifying animals and plants.
