Google has announced new updates to Workspace for Education that will be unveiled at the BETT 2024 show. These updates are aimed at making it easier for educators to create, manage, and share interactive lessons.
A useful update is the new Resources tab in Classroom, which will allow educators to create practice sets and video activities. This feature will help educators to better personalize their lessons based on their students’ needs. Soon, it’ll be possible to share links to class templates and Classwork pages to simplify lesson planning.
Another exciting update is the new Classroom analytics feature, which will give educators visibility into assignment completion, grades, and Classroom adoption. With this feature, educators can drill down to the student level to support specific students who are struggling.
Google is also introducing Duet AI, which will allow educators to use generative AI in Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Gmail, and Meet to write, visualize, organize, and connect more meaningfully. This feature will ensure that educators have control over their data while using AI to improve their productivity.
Educators can now add questions to YouTube videos assigned within Classroom to help students learn at their own pace. Soon, educators will be able to test out AI-generated questions in English to save time. Practice sets are available in 50+ languages, with fully localized learning resources in English, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, Italian, Malay, and Korean.
Google is also introducing 10+ new Classroom add-ons, which will provide access to teachers’ favourite edTech tools right within Classroom. New add-ons are coming from partners like Kami, Quizzizz, and Flip, and later this year, any developer will be able to build add-ons.
Students will soon be able to glance at their upcoming Google Classroom assignments right on their Chromebook home screens through an integration in the OS.
