To everyone involved in education in the Essex and surrounding areas.
I’d like to invite you and your colleagues to Teachmeet Essex 2010, a free, twilight CPD event.
A Teachmeet is an informal gathering of teachers to share good ideas from their classroom teaching, primarily about ICT in the classroom but other
ideas can be shared too. It’s show and tell for teachers. Teachmeets have been running all over the UK for the last few years, including two very successful ones at the BETT exhibition attended by nearly 200 people!
The main point of a TeachMeet is hearing stories about learning, from teachers. This is not an event to present about a product or theory – this is a chance for teachers from all types of establishments to hear ideas from each other. Real narratives of practice that make a difference. It is about being engaged and inspired by our immediate colleagues and a whole bucket load of networking to boot! It’s the best free CPD you are going to get!
The first Essex Teachmeet will take place on October 19th from 5pm – 8pm at the Pioneer School, Basildon (SS14 2LA). And you are all very welcome to attend.
Goody bags will be provided for all attending, thanks to our various software sponsors including 2Simple and BrainPop UK. Refreshments will be provided.
Speakers will be limited to either 2 minute or 7 minute presentations. So you get a lot of great ideas, and far less waffle than you would get on a regular CPD event. This is quickfire stuff
Everyone is welcome, and anyone is free to speak- just sign up in advance if you have something you would love to share. We’d love to hear it!
If you can attend, then please sign up on the wiki, so that we have an idea of numbers for catering: http://teachmeet.pbworks.com/TeachMeetEssex
We’ll also hopefully be broadcasting the event live online for those who can’t attend, and you can also contribute via twitter using the #tmessex hashtag.
More information is available on the wiki if you want to know more about what’s happening.
You can also download a flyer. I’d really appreciate it if you could print this for your staffroom noticeboard.
