For many schools, maintaining the projectors can often be an expensive business that’s not always considered when buying a whiteboard. To help with this, Promethean yesterday announced their new Projector Promise.
The Promethean Projector Promise allows schools to purchase equivalent or comparable replacement projectors and lamps at preferential pricing. This furthers Promethean’s commitment to their customers by protecting their investments in Promethean interactive technology, lowering the total cost of ownership, and helping to ensure the continued effectiveness of teaching in the classroom.
All schools who currently own or invest in a complete Promethean ActivBoard System (ActivBoard, System Projector, and Mount/Stand) are eligible for the Promethean Projector Promise, no matter the age of the System Projector or warranty terms.
The Promethean Projector Promise is currently available in the United States and the United Kingdom with more countries to be added in the future.
It’s definitely an interesting idea –

I work for a low income school district in Michigan. I along with many of the special educators have the whiteboards that were purchased through ARA Funds. I do not know if the cost of maintaining these boards was factored into the the reasoning of purchasing this exact brand of board. If it was not, (and I am pretty sure it wasn’t) then I think this is a wonderful idea. It may even begin to help bridge the technology gap in other low income districts as well because there will not be a burden of significant cost to purchase the boards because the maintenance cost is included. Seems like a great idea to me!
