The BP Educational Service (BPES) provides free curriculum-linked Science teaching resources for primary and secondary schools and colleges. The site has had a bit of a revamp recently, with their resources being grouped into different collections. The update makes the site much easier to use, and there’s some nice new resources added too. A login is needed to access most of the resources, but it’s free to register.

Real-world Science, aimed at pupils aged 12 to 14,  provides a set of short films, animations, quizzes and interactive activities looking at science in a real-world context. Topics include combustion of fuels, energetic reactions, hydrocarbons from crude oil, polymerisation and the properties of hydrocarbons.

There’s some very useful resources here that would support the teaching of chemistry at KS3/KS4 level.

Also worth a look is the Science Skills collection, an award-winning, free interactive resource comprising six challenges drawn from the real-life context of BP’s business.

All the BPES Collections can be seen here http://bpes.bp.com/collection/ and there’s resources for both Primary and Secondary science lessonsm with some lovelt stuff to help support primary science investigations.

Go take a look, and let me know what you think in the comments.
