SMARTboard users will be interested to know that a new version of Smart Notebook, 11.2, has just been released. You can download it now from the Smart Website.
As well as the usual bug fixes, there’s a few new features that I’m quite pleased to see.
The first is that you can now set a default background colour for all your pages. This is something I’ve wanted to see for a long time. Now you can choose a different colour, and have that as your page colour on each new page, instead of the default white colour.
To change the colour, go to Edit and Preferences. Then click on the Default tab. You can change the colour there.

The other big change is that you can now turn off the “Extend Page” feature. Many Smartboard users have found that when you move an object near the bottom of the page, it automatically extends the page down, rather than let you place the object at the bottom. This can be quite annoying. Well, now you can turn that feature off. Go to View then Extend Page and you can toggle this feature off and on.
Other changes include a button for the toolbar which will let you switch quickly between viewing the entire page and viewing page width, and also the ability to change how quickly the Magic Pen ink takes to fade away.
You can download Smart Notebook 11.2 here. Once installed, when you start the program you should see the tutorial file which explains some of the new features. If you haven’t updated since v11 was released, it’s well worth taking the plunge now, if only to fix the slow load times and problems with Smart Ink on that initial release.
And also, if you want it, you can download a full guide to using version Smart Notebook 11.2 here.

Do you have any idea if Smart Notebook 11 can be used with other IWB like e-beam or engage? At school we have the two systems and I didn´t use to have any trouble using my smart activities with other IW, but now it is not allowing me… Thanks for your response
It used to work, but the terms of the software licence always said that it shouldn’t be used. With the newest version of 11.2 I think they’ve changed how it works with other brands of whiteboard. I thought it used a watermark… I didn’t think it wouldnt work completely. Not sure if that’s just a bug you’re getting.
